NOTE: This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed.

About the role:

GM's Information Technology team is pursuing a Software Development Leader to head an agile development team building V2G storage systems. The Software Development Leader will be responsible for innovative applications that coordinate EV load management, helping accelerate the effort to achieve a cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient future. GM is currently seeking an individual with agile leadership experience and practical knowledge in V2G, including Open Vehicle Grid Integration Platform (OVGIP) standards and smart grid design. You will lead a team investigating opportunities to maximize core GM battery technology in new growth areas.

YOUR CAPABILITIES

  • Lead a high-performing and agile team, building distributed battery management solutions.
  • As needed to meet evolving demands: hire new developers, reformulate agile teams to match new capabilities, pivot to more promising product areas, balance focus between mobile apps and desktop software.
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop testable hypotheses, rapid prototypes and minimum viable products.
  • Lead the development of innovative mobile and desktop products managing distributed battery resources.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable consumer privacy statutes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate product solutions to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable designs.
  • Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs.

Additional Job Description

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant engineering field required.
  • Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering preferred.
  • At least 7 years' experience leading agile development teams practicing Scrum or SAFe.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying software solutions managing distributed energy resources.
  • Demonstrated high level of skills required to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate others in group situations.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: V2X, V2I, V2V, V2G, Microgrids, information centric networking (ICN)/content caching technologies

Preferred skills:
  • Vehicle network routing and wireless information delivery
  • Heterogeneous network technologies
  • Data mining for V2X/V2G
