Here's what you can expect as the Vice President, Construction, Design, and Development at DaVita:

Leadership of our internal Design, Construction and Development groups as we continue to grow and reposition our national portfolio of over 3000 dialysis clinics. This critical position will lead three distinct, but interrelated departments. Our Design team owns and innovates on our architectural design standards and prototypes and manages our national network of architecture and engineering partners. Our Construction team is responsible for the build-out of all our leased properties and works closely with their Real Estate partners to develop and own project scopes and budgets and to deliver all projects on-time and on-budget through a nationwide network of contractors. Lastly, this role will lead our internal self-development function, which buys and entitles property, develops clinic shell buildings and partners with Construction to complete projects which are then typically sold to real estate investors. Key metrics include quantity of completed projects per year, capital efficiency, cycle times, and return on invested capital.

The Vice President of Construction, Design, & Development will:

  • Lead strategy and oversee execution of all projects of the Construction, Design, and internal development (DDP) teams, including construction of all denovo and relocation clinics (~60-80/year), expansion projects, acquisition due diligence and renovations, architecture and design activities and standards, and ground-up development projects which include a comprehensive range of development activities from land acquisition to full construction and build-out.

  • Provide strategic vision and thought leadership to all three teams/groups;

  • Persistently drive continuous improvement for the organization and its service delivery capabilities;

  • Embrace financial accountability and budget management;

  • Supervise contractor/vendor performance, direction, and innovation;

  • Lead construction and DDP business strategy, execution and reporting - deliver results in terms of number of clinics, on-time, on-budget, and DDP profit performance;

  • Skillfully manage internal strategic relationships, including Village Leadership, Field Operations, Strategy, Finance, Team Genesis Partnerships, etc.;

  • Manage and lead a high-performing team that currently consists of Directors of Construction (4), Internal Project Managers (14), and a Director of Design (1) - Provide business direction, leadership, coaching, presence, and role modeling of our Core Values.
