System Job Title: Vice President, Global Communications

Business Context :

Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is seeking a dynamic, creative communications leader to champion our globally recognized vacation brands and lines of busines. The Vice President, Global Communications will craft the stories and key messages for the organization. Success will require passion for the work, out of the box thinking, an eye for detail and excellent communication skills.

Reporting to the EVP, Chief Brand & Digital Officer, the Vice President, Global Communications will be a key leader within the organization. This role leads the global communications team, guides our external agencies, and will partner closely with our vacation ownership, exchange & third-party management and corporate leaders to bring our brand and associate stories and company narrative to life across every channel.Previous experience developing and delivering on a holistic integrated communications strategy for globally recognized brands is a must.Extensive experience required in leading public/media relations, internal and external communications, corporate and brand reputation management and managing a diverse and geographically dispersed team.This position will be a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and will work cross-functionally to support business leaders to deliver results.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead Integrated Global Communications Strategy (50% of time)
    • Develop strategic plan and communication approach for key internal and external audiences across vacation ownership, exchange and third-party management business segments
    • Identify challenges and emerging issues facing organization. Work with leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external communications activities and solutions, define and execute appropriate strategies to support
    • Translate business objectives into communication strategies - and leverage ability to communicate and sell to the business at large
    • Develop integrated, proactive PR campaigns to launch new products, reposition brands and drive awareness and trial
    • Serve as key spokesperson representing the enterprise with the media; showcase proven ability to articulate business strategy with fluency
    • Oversee concept design, development, and management of "best in class" PR/comms efforts across MVW brands and all channels - web, print, video, social and display
    • Oversee reputation management and crisis response to all escalations/issues across business
    • Partner with Investor Relations team and provide communications support for investment community
    • Serve as corporate communications liaison with Marriott International and Hyatt Corporation
    • Manage corporate websites, intranet and other internal communication channels
    • Lead corporate communications team and support executive communications and key narratives
    • Increase brand sentiment and awareness to maximize brand business impact
    • Serve as trusted advisor and communication counselor to MVW leadership
  • Oversee Communications Team & Deliver Results (25% of time)
    • Lead and direct associates focused on holistic communications plans from concept to completion
    • Strong ability to influence culture and global regions. A strong mentor and collaborator across disciplines
    • Develop, lead and inspire the communications associates, each responsible for defining and delivering communications and branded experiences
    • Create and foster career development and growth paths for associates in alignment with company and personal objectives
  • Executive Stakeholder Management (15% of time)
    • Collaborate with key business stakeholders from across all lines of business to develop clear communications objectives that are measurable and time-based
    • Participate on leadership team of Brand & Digital organization
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key business owners and senior management
    • Partner with executive leadership on major company initiatives, including roll-out of new products, services and programs
  • Communication, Planning, Estimation, Budget, Issue Management and Resolution for Highly Complex Cross-functional Initiatives (10% of time)
    • Coach team and provide assessments the business implications of changes to project scope, timeline, or resources
    • Raise awareness of team's plans, insights and accomplishments in order to facilitate cooperation across departments and to build a highly performing, highly motivated team
    • Support direct reports with ongoing prioritization and resource allocation to ensure that the crucial business initiatives are delivered
    • Develops annual budgets and allocates budgets by program based on the organization's objectives. Maintains tracking and reporting of key budget operational processes and reports throughout the year

Candidate Profile

Education
  • BA in Communications, Marketing or related field. MBA preferred
Knowledge and skills
  • Expert understanding of strategic planning and complex change management for business transformation initiatives
  • Ability to identify key drivers in the marketplace; strong leadership and communications skills
Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Apple Keynote, proficient with Apple operating system.
Travel Requirements

Travel required, including international. Approximately 20% of time

Qualifications

  • 15+ years relevant of relevant professional experience in marketing or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance
  • 10+ years people management experience; industry experience a plus
  • Prior experience within travel, tourism & hospitality a plus
  • Strong ability to influence across highly matrixed organization
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to all levels throughout organization
  • Knowledge of marketing, all forms of advertising, and digital experiences
  • Proven client-facing role experience working with teams on large scale, long-term projects
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate attitude with willingness and enthusiasm to own your own growth
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to quickly influence across the organization and work in a matrixed environment
  • Strong client service orientation, collaboration and partnering skills
