Why this job is important:

The Quality Assurance organization is charged with the mission of increasing, improving, and expanding current usage of testing automation, testing tools, and as a source of QA best practice leadership and evangelism throughout Bullhorn. This role will lead that overall effort and organization in its efforts to standardize product testing with a focus on cross product testing at the enterprise, customer, and cross-product workflow levels for our most important, actively invested product initiatives, as well as specialized business unit product lines. This leader will define and track key metrics around quality assurance productivity and testing effectiveness to ensure our success in delivering high quality products to our customers. This leader would also be a mentor and domain expert to work with the QA personnel that exist within the mission teams. Additionally this role will be accountable for all Load, Stress, Performance, Burst, Endurance, and other types of testing, with a charge to automate as much of this testing effort as viable.

A typical day might include:

  • Develop the QA strategic vision, defining our testing approach and creating quality processes across a diverse product portfolio
  • Establish our quality and testing processes, methods, and metrics to be used throughout our SDLC and product deployment pipelines
  • Drive the company towards a more comprehensive QA automation testing framework covering both component level, end-to-end testing, product portfolio testing, and all forms of "-ility" testing
  • Accountable for driving alignment around non-functional requirements criteria to account for scalability, availability, reliability, performance, and security needs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Set the standard for and ensure accountability by the product development teams for test plans, test execution, and quality reporting mechanisms to be used by all product development teams
  • Oversee the testing automation innovation and guidance in selection of testing tools, automation for API development and the continual journey of improving code coverage in the SDLC
  • Collaborate with our product health, devops, and architecture teams to include test automation within our deployment frameworks at multiple stages of the production deployment process
  • Execute against aggressive project plans and delivery commitments
  • Manage resource allocations, staffing levels, training, hiring, retention mentoring, team building and performance reviews across the teams.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance business planning and budgeting/forecasting discussions with operations and finance teams.
  • Work closely with the CTO, Product and Technology leaders, and technical leads to architect and develop the best testing solutions approach
  • Be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in product requirements and delivery schedules as needed to meet our business objectives
  • Provide updates to the executive team and stakeholders on a regular basis regarding status of development, release management, QA, operations, support, and system performance.
  • Represent the QA practice and strategy in customer conversations, partners, and other external stakeholder meetings
  • People leadership activities including setting performance expectations, aligning work with functional and enterprise strategies, and leading through change
This role may be a fit for you if you have:
  • 15+ years overall software development industry experience
  • 10+ years managing engineering teams of developers, QA and devops.
  • 5+ years delivering scalable cloud based web applications
  • Experience testing high scale, enterprise software products, driving quality in both functional and non-functional testing arenas inclusive of load, scalability, security, and performance testing
  • Deep technical expertise in test automation frameworks, continuous testing methodologies, and understanding of testing best practices
  • A strong passion and vision for delivering high quality software products
  • Strong familiarity with Bullhorn's technology stack:
    • Java, .NET, Angular, REST APIs, MS SQLServer
  • Passion for testing around Security and Compliance
  • BS in Computer Science or engineering, MS preferred
  • Experience leading global distributed teams
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong initiative, self managing
