Job Description Summary

It is the responsibility of the incumbent to operate the equipment utilized in the By-Product wet and frozen areas. The loader will also use a powered lift truck to move and load the finished products and other items. During weekend clean-up the incumbent is to report to the Sanitation Supervisor.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
• Understand and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment as directed by plant policies and procedures.
• Must have the ability to work overtime as required.
• Must actively practice and abide by all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and general hygiene regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Monitors the salt addition system and keeps the system full at all times.
• Monitors the operation of the starch room, to include cleaning the cyclones, loading the starch trucks.
• Load out sheets for proper accounting of various loaded materials.
• Prepares and maintains process control sheet data.
• Monitors finished product integrity by visual inspecting for foreign material and sampling.
• Cleans and sanitizes processing equipment during scheduled shutdown and at other times as directed by the supervisor.
• Visually completes and monitors the filling of all starch, waste hopper and by-product trucks.
• Load trucks with finished product by use of a powered lift truck, if needed. Uses lift trucks to move salt and other items throughout the plant.
• Will be responsible to clean, store, and handle the waste tote bins.
• Will assist the sliver operator as needed.
• Will be responsible to dump frozen waste totes. This includes putting the totes in the waste tote dumper, removing the tote from the waste tote dumper, and cleaning of the waste tote dumper area and equipment.
• At times may need to go into the freezer to get waste totes for dumping.
• Build totes and breakdown totes.
• Communicate to the Warehouse Hourly Lead when wet and frozen waste hoppers are full.

Education or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration - Must be certified to operate a powered lift truck to the level of intermediate operator as determined by the company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk through the plant. The employee is required to use hands to work on computers and reach with hands and arms to check equipment, take readings and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will be required to stand, walk, bend at the knees, lean forward climb stairs, work on ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

The employee works primarily in an outdoor environment and warehouse setting, where the noise level is usually moderate. However, while performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in the plant where he/she may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the plant is usually loud. Hearing protection is required and provided by the company.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $17.56 - $18.31
