Position Overview

  • Novelis is the world leader in aluminum rolled products and beverage can recycling, producing approx. 14% of the world's total aluminium rolled products.
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) is a management system that encompasses Total Quality, TPM and Lean/6 Sigma practices in a systemic approach focused on the identification, measurement, eradication and prevention of losses. It is based on the involvement and empowerment of operational teams starting from operators at shop floor, allowing them to be fully accountable for delivering results 24/7.
  • WCM was selected as the only Novelis manufacturing management system and is one of the enablers of its business strategy. WCM can be expanded in further phases to support other business functions from Supply Chain to HR.
  • This position leads the program implementation and its sustainability in a plant, working closely with the plant management team and the Regional WCM Coordinator. He/she is responsible for the correct application of the methodology, the monitoring of progress and for supporting and guiding the Plant Manager in any aspect related to the program.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Lead the program in Greebsboro (with help and support of the WCM Regional team)

  • Work closely with plant manager to facilitate the implementation.
  • Coordinate the loss intelligence phase of WCM within the plant, identifying and prioritizing improvement projects aligned to the business needs.
  • Develop, approve and implement the WCM Roadmap for the plant (improvement teams, audits, communication)
  • Lead at least one improvement team
  • Follow and favor the progress of the other teams
  • Alert in case of deviation (planning, results, etc.)
  • Learn and take over methods and tools at first and subsequently deliver professional training and coaching to enable employees at all levels to engage and contribute to the ZERO LOSS mentality.
  • Prepare and Support local steering committee
  • Report weekly on the program status
  • Promote the approach and ensure appropriation at the site at every hierarchical level
Ensure the sustainability of the WCM program

  • Construct and implement system audits that will indicate whether improvements are sustained and all plant teas are engaged with the program.
  • Stay as a continuous improvement expert at the site and group levels (referent, trainer, etc)
  • Set up the Pillars Managemetn, lead regular coordination meetings to follow the results
  • Contribute to the definition of standards, norms and best practices for manufacturing management and performance measurement and set them up
  • Accumulate the knowledge and acquired experience
  • Play a key role in the local change management and the cultural transformation of the site.
Participate to the Noveis WCM program capitalization

  • Participate in WCM coordination events and share with counterparts in the WCM community and organization.
  • Identify and promote best practices on the site to integrate them to the group best practices.
EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in relevent field of study required. Engineering degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years in operations leadership function
  • High degree of understanding of WCM management system, with experience in leading multiple Pillars and improvemetn projects.
  • Experience in businesses similar to Novelis, preferably in the metal industry.
Location Profile

Novelis' Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis' recycling technologies. Residents enjoy nearby Lake Oconee which includes a number of golf communities. In addition Athens Georgia - home to the University of Georgia and hundreds of cultural and sporting events each year - is a short drive away.
