Description:
Demonstrates wound, skin, & ostomy care expertise and clinical leadership. Conducts comprehensive skin, wound and ostomy assessments and develops plan of care for patients of all age groups. Provides wound, skin and ostomy education to patients, family members, providers and all other members of the health care team.
WOCNCB certification strongly preferred.
General Summary:
Is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and if necessary, delegating patient care to a specified group of patients. Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals and other staff to ensure the quality of care given. Provides care for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient (as defined in the unit scope of care). Utilizes knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient's age to ensure that care provided meets the unique, physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Involves appropriate parties (i.e. patient's family or guardian, outside agencies) in the assessment, treatment and continuing care of the patient as needed.

Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
BLS trained
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Successful completion of a refresher program in nursing if applicant has not had a minimum of 1000 hours of direct patient care experience within the past 5 years
Demonstration of acceptable performance in administering medications according to Holy Cross Hospital's standards within the probationary period
Basic computer skills, to include data entry and retrieval
Reads, writes, speaks, and comprehends English language
Must have visual and auditory acuity
Must have the ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately
Two years Wound Care experience preferred.
Wound Care Certification strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
May be required to lift up to 35 pounds as determined by the nature of the nursing unit. Must be able to push, pull, lift patients. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and move patient care equipment, i.e.: beds/stretchers. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel. Must be able to utilize a computer for periods of time throughout the shift, dependant upon the specific position.
