*This position may work remotely from any of the following US states: CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, MD, MA, MI, MN, NY, NC, PA, SC, TX, VA, WA. Additionally, the position may work remotely from any of the following countries outside of the US: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia.

Contributes to the implementation of Ipas's brand and communications strategy in support of Ipas's strategic framework. Works collaboratively with the Communications Director, members of the Communications team, and Ipas global and in-country staff to write, edit, copyedit and proofread print publications, electronic publications, multimedia products and other materials. Works with Ipas teams to provide support for brand ambassadorship and communications projects.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Embraces and understands the Ipas brand, and how to convey that through communications materials and channels for key audiences.
  • Works with the communications team to translate technical materials into print or online content for dissemination to diverse audiences, including nontechnical audiences.
  • Digs for stories of Ipas's impact around the world, as well as profiles of staff and champions, and is ready to get to know Ipas teammates from around the network to tell these stories on relevant platforms.
  • Writes web stories, blogs, press releases, newsletters, policy briefs, project reports and other documents as assigned.
  • Edits and proofreads materials as assigned, including promotional materials, news articles, web page content, and other communications products in a variety of media.
  • Works with communications team to create social media content that advances Ipas's brand, impact, work, and relationships with partners.
  • Provides critical thinking, project management, evaluation, and editorial guidance on the development of new communications projects; ensures that written and multimedia products are of high quality and effectively communicate Ipas's programs and messages.
  • Serves as communications liaison with other Ipas teams, and when appropriate, external partners and organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism or related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to write for a variety of audiences and venues

Preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of editorial/communications experience for an international NGO
