Summary:

The Youth Development Team Leader implements the activities which support the daily schedule. The Youth Development Team Leader assists in monitoring various processes on the unit, supervises and interacts with students, observes and addresses student behavior, and documents services in student files.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements the daily activity schedule and coordinates student activities.
  • Interacts with and supervises students during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security.
  • Maintains regular communication with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Provides effective facility security including conducting headcounts, room checks and observing student movement.
  • Observes student behavior and intervenes appropriately.
  • Operates company vehicles according to state and federal laws in order to transport students to and from the facility for business related appointments according to assigned schedule.
  • Facilitates and documents various groups or meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information related to student information.
  • Observes activities and responds accordingly in emergency situations (e.g. evacuations, CPR, first aid). Attends in-service training's and completes annual training requirements and certifications.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.  Demonstrates appropriate use of crisis intervention techniques and skills.

 

 



Minimum Requirements:

The following education requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Prior experience in the juvenile justice field or residential treatment preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal Background checks (Federal, State, Sex Offender, and Child Abuse registry).
  • Pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s State of residence.
