POSITION SUMMARY:

New York Film Academy Kids Summer Camp is looking for an organized and enthusiastic individual who demonstrates high levels of organization and a passion for engaging with young creatives and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents. Under the supervision of the Director of the Kids Summer Camps, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations to ensure the smooth running of the Kids Summer Camps both in person as well as online. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, scheduling and coordinating the various program offerings, assisting with staffing and training, assisting with setup and breakdown, and providing other logistical and operational support like communication with admissions, parents and students.

New York Film Academy's Kids Summer Camps provide intensive programs in filmmaking, acting, animation, game design, musical theatre, and photography for campers of ages 10 to 13 years old. TAs are role model figures for our energetic, artistic camper body, and must commit to helping maintain an educational, safe, and fun environment for the campers.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.

  • Create and maintain class schedules for online and on-campus summer camps on a need basis, as assigned by the Director of Kids Camps
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps with staffing and training across the various departments that make up the Kids Summer Camps
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps with the build out and break down of the Kids Summer Camps
  • Provide in-class instruction on a needs basis
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps with orientation and final screenings
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and emails, printing materials, logging attendance, etc.
  • Maintain and update schedules per instructors and teaching assistants needs and availability
  • Serve as the main point of contact for instructors and teaching assistants prior to the first day of camp and throughout the summer.
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps develop and communicate protocols for instructors and teaching assistants.
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps in maintaining curriculum and ensuring deliverables are being met program-wide
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps determine Edit Lab needs, including staffing, equipment, and build out
  • Assist the Director of Kids Camps with other scheduling needs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Kids Camps or senior administration such as check-in, check-out and lunch supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A solid understanding of all NYFA Kids Summer Camp programs
  • Ability to remain detailed orientated, while meeting deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for engaging with young campers and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents.
  • Ability to work hard, respond to emergencies, and always maintain the safety and educational environment for the students
  • Ability to maintain multiple projects/ tasks at a time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including students, faculty and staff
  • A strong grasp of google sheets, Microsoft office, Excel and Zoom
  • Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC, 5D Mark II, shotgun mics, tripods, onboard shock mounts, c-stands, boom poles, etc. is a plus but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in database management and record keeping
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to meet and serve the public, both in person and by telephone, tactfully and effectively
  • Ability to work well in a team atmosphere
  • Perform basic math
  • Understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • High School/GED required.
  • Experience providing technical support on film shoots and/or art events required
  • Film/Video or Acting Production Experience
  • Post Production Experience preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced multi-tasking results driven environment with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, GSuite and Zoom
  • Experience and comfortability with students ages 10-13

The following machines, tools, equipment and / or software are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, equipment and/ or software used will vary.

  • Zoom
  • Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Google Suite Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Mail
  • Apple Products (i.e. Mac, iPad, etc.)
  • Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Acrobat Reader preferred
  • Film equipment, including , but not limited to 5D Mark II, HMC 150, shotgun mics, tripods, onboard shock mounts, c-stands, boom poles, etc.
  • Office equipment including, but not limited to computer, phone, fax machine copier, and calculator.

ENVIRONMENTAL / ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:

The following environmental / atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.

  • Office Environment
  • Outdoor/Indoor Film Set environment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull documents/boxes weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to climb a ladder, standing, bending and stooping
  • Sit for long/high periods of time to perform various computer/administrative tasks
  • Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull Boxes/Equipment/Supplies/Set Pieces/Stage Flats/Furniture weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Minimal travel as needed
  • Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact and telephones
