This position could primarily be remote, but proximity to an Elevance Health major office (pulse point) is a plus. Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model with pulse point sites used for collaboration, community, and connection.

The Associate Actuary completes the most diverse and complicated projects and performs highly complex actuarial studies.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

• MMM Valuation lead for Medicare and Medicaid business
• Work closely with the Valuation director to support all aspects of monitoring and reporting of benefit expense, as well as providing input on forecasting
• Serve as a primary Valuation point of contact within the various lines of business working closely with FP&A, Medical Management, Operations, other departments, and external auditors as needed
• Set monthly reserved and perform variance analyses versus budget and prior periods
• Determine Medicare Part D Settlement estimates for Risk Sharing, Gap and Reinsurance subsidies taking into consideration Prescription Drug Event response files
• Support various aspects of the company Surplus Share agreements
• Support annual budget process and monthly forecast refresh process, including seasonality and Part D Subsidies inputs
• Support quarterly audit requests and Actuarial Opinion reconciliation process
• Support Yearly Medical Loss Ratio calculation requirements
• Build and/or optimize efficient and robust analytical models and processes, based on the needs of the business
• Deliver actuarial communications including results of requested analyzes
• Perform database queries using SQL, for utilization analysis by service category
• Ensure data validation and reconciliation
• Manage 2-4 actuarial analysts' workflow
• Implement new projects that enhance the Valuation Reporting tools models to improve user experience, transparency, and accuracy
• Perform other regular and ad-hoc analyses at the direction of Valuation management

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires a BA/BS degree and minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• ASA required from the Society of Actuaries (SOA).

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $98,960 to $178,128
